Hello, I have a 1992 Oldsmobile 98 regency supercharge. I just replaced the steering wheel column, and now it won't start. It has the key with the chip in it. The information center on the dashboard is telling me to clean the key, and try again in 3 minutes. It's not working (the dash lights comes on, but no ignition turn over at all) :-( A couple of people told me that, I'll have to use the old ignition switch, key and wire connected to it because the computer is not recognizing the new key and column ignition switch. Is there any way to repair this problem without removing the column, and installing the old ignition switch and key? The only way, I can see doing this is to cut all the wires but the ignition switch wire coming out of the bottom of the column. Then I would need to splice them back together after I replace with old wire. Please help me! This has been driving me crazy. It has to be another way to reprogram the computer to recognize the new key/ column or something. P.S.- The dealer wanted me to tow it to them, and he was talking $400+ dollars, that’s too much for a 1992. I have some mechanical skills to try to solve the problem first. KHill
