Do you have to use the small plastic bushing that comes with the new filter?

when replacing tranny filter just drain pan, discard old gasket, remove filter and "O" ring or sleeve type seal. clean pan, magnet and screen. install a new "O" ring on the pick-up tube or a new sleeve into the pick-up tube recess. install new filter assembly then install oil pan and refill.
