what i need to do to change the crankshaft

If you need to replace the crankshaft, basically, you remove the engine and totally dismantle it. The crankshaft requires the entire engine to be taken apart. At that point, it is worth putting the money into rings, bearings... you already need to replace all the gaskets, you may as well rebuild the engine.
