I can start the car in the yard but if I try and drive it more than 3 mile, it begans to shut off. I know that I have a problem with my brake, I was told the master cyn went bad. So I as I was driving a warning bell has been going off. My question is there a safty system that would shut the engine off if it is reading that I need brake work?

No, that won't happen. Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked fuel pump pressure?

Let me know.

If the brake pedal goes to the floor and there are no leaks, yes, replace the master cylender. As far as the fuel pump, I recommend checking it before replacing it. It isn't a fun job.

Let me know if you have other questions.
