Oil sending unit went bad and sent oil all over the road and now it will not crank over at all. What is going on? Does the auto shutdown relay and will that cause this issues?

Hello,

What happened when your vehicle's oil sending unit failed? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the ASD relay will cause this no start, but only because it is not getting a signal from the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP). The CKP sends a signal when it detects crankshaft rotation. The Power-train Control Module uses this information, through the ASD relay, to determine engine rpm's and uses the signal for misfire monitor as well. The CKP is not sending a signal probably because your engine is seized up from lack of lubrication. I have included for you in the diagrams below a description of the ASD relay and how it works. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thanks,
Alex
