Hello! I will be building a LM7 5.3 here soon and I've been watching your series to get a base on what i'll need and a how to. I just have one question, in your series you used a standard Melling oil pump, should I do the same? I was under the impression that a high-pressure standard volume would be the way to go. I'd hate to mess it up so I was wondering if you had any reasoning behind it. Thank you!

Thank you for watching the series!

Depends on what you are building. If you are building a regular hot street engine, the standard pump is just fine.

But if you are building a hardcore race engine you might want a higher volume pump. However, I have also talked to people that run race engines and want a less powerful oil pump due to engine oil sheer. You will make more power with less oil PSI basically.

Between you and me the oil pump I used would be fine for nearly all applications. Thanks for using 2CarPros!
