The oil pressure gauge is always pinned at 80. I would like to know what the most common cause is for this and whether I need to replace the sensor or the oil pump? And I would like to know how to do it. Thanks.

With the key in the run position without the engine running is the gauge pegged? If so unplug the oil sending unit and see if the gauge drops if it does bad sending unit replace it. Most common issue is the sending unit.

Any fix? Same truck, same problem. Unplugging oil sender does not change anything, stays at 80. Pull dash cluster and needle does fall, so I do not guess gauge is bad.

Hello, I am Danny.
I came across your post and found this test for you to check for an open wire to your gauge. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any further questions. Danny-
