Oil pressure low light

Hello, I am Danny.

Just curious. Did you notice what the oil pressure reading on the gauge (on the instrument panel ) was reading while this happened? It could be a bad/worn oil pressure sending unit. I have attached a link showing some steps to check the oil pressure. The oil pressure switch is located on the near the engine oil filter. I attached a picture and circled it in red. Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions if needed.

Can you please give me detail on changing the oil pressure switch for my vehicle listed above? I have to put one in on Monday.

You will just need a few basic tools to complete this. First you should to be able to disconnect the wire harness with your fingers by squeezing the connector tabs to release. If a tab style you can you a small pocket flat-blade screwdriver to unlatch. The switch itself is screwed into the engine block. You can use a socket, combination wrench, adjustable wrench to remove. Only a few drips of oil should escape upon removal. The new switch will have a thread sealant applied, so simply screw back in and just be sure not to over-tighten. Plug connector back onto sensor and you are done! Hope this helps! Any questions just let us know. Thanks again for using 2CarPros.

Put the new oil pressure switch in, but when you turn left or right it loses oil pressure.

Sorry to hear that. Sometimes (not very often) the oil pump inside the oil pan can be faulty do to wear/defects on the pressure relief valve. That would require dropping the oil pan to remove/replace. If you like I can attach links and pictures. Here is a link about low oil pressure. I do remember hearing about this with certain GM vehicles. Hope this helps.

I am attaching the pictures and how-to steps showing what is involved in the oil pan removal process to inspect/replace the oil pump. On a scale of 1-10 this is a 10. Pretty involved. Before you do this, by looking on the dash at the instrument cluster what does the oil pressure gauge read PSI when running/idling? Hope this helps. Thanks again for using 2CarPros.
