My explorer is showing to have the oil pressure gauge to be at no oil pressure. However, the engine runs smooth and drives normal. It has sort of a diesel sound when just idling, there is no check engine light. What should I do? Also when I turn on the car the oil pressure gauge does jump to the middle where it usually is then it drops down slowly to no oil pressure.

Unbelievable. I just updated my web site ten minutes ago to include this problem.

Take the vehicle to your mechanic immediately to have the actual oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge. If the pressure is okay, replace the sending unit. In the less-likely event the pressure really is low, the engine should not be run until that is solved.

We aren't supposed to list links to web sites but you can do a search for Randy's Repair Shop / Welcome. Look at "More Circuit", Ignition System Theory", "Computer-Controlled Ignition Systems", then "Sensors". I just updated that a little while ago but it's far from finished.
