I was told by a service station (via dye testing) that I have an oil leak. They did not have the capability to locate the leak therefore, it has not been repaired nor located. I called the dealership to see if they could assist. They said it would require me to leave it with them for 48 hours diagnostic testing. Is this necessary? Can I take it to anyone else besides the dealer? There is no oil dripping. When I check the level it is still within range. How vital is it for me to this corrected?

Hello, I am Danny.

Any local car repair shop should be able to locate a leak. If you do suspect a leak I would definitely monitor the engines oil level until the problem is solved. Having a leak/low oil level can cause engine damage! Dealerships can be used but will always cost a little more. I have attached a link for you to get an idea about spotting/locating a leak. Hope this helps and please feel free to ask any questions if needed. Thanks for using 2CarPros.
