External oil cooler changed for a new one , cooling system flushed thoroughly, no over heating no loss of coolant oil still in overflow. Car runs normally, however on start up there is smoke which is acrid and blue until it has warmed up. What is my problem?

Hi,

it sounds like there is a head gasket issue. Do me a favor. Take a look through this link and perform the tests indicated. Let me know the results.

Hello,

Blue smoke is a sign that oil is being burnt in your vehicle's combustion chambers. This could be a blown head gasket or a bad oil cooler and a failing output shaft seal on the turbo. So let's rule one the possibilities out. Here are a couple of links that either one will confirm or dismiss that your vehicle has a blown head gasket:

Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you find out. We can go from there.

Thanks,
Alex

This is most likely caused by a head gasket issue.

We need to test the head gasket to be sure. Here is some info that will explain this in more detail. Let me know what you find. There are a few more possible causes but head gasket is the most likely cause.
