Oil in AC system

Have replaced AC expansion valve, condenser and receiver/dryer. How much oil should I add when recharging the system? Mercedes Benz specify 7.5 oz as a total for the system.

Good evening,

I attached a chart below for you to view. The big thing is that it depends on the type and make of your compressor.

The oil in the Freon side is only 20cc. The other oil only goes into the compressor itself. It cannot be added to the Freon system. It has to be added directly to the compressor.

Fresh oil in compressor. 170 cc

When replacing compressor, drain oil from old compressor and measure quantity.

If more then 40 cc, replace with same amount from old compressor.

If less then 40 cc, add 90 cc to quantity measured from old compressor to new compressor.

Renew condenser. 50 cc

Renew evaporator. 70 cc

Renew receiver dehydrator. 40 cc

Nippondenso A/C compressor

Initial oil fill. 120 cc

Renew compressor, drain old compressor and new compressor, add same quantity to new compressor.

Renew condenser. 20 cc

Renew evaporator. 40 cc

Renew dryer. 10 cc

Vacuum line from evaporator to compressor. 10 cc

pressure line from compressor to condenser. 10 cc
