Oil gauge is pegged out and even when its cold it stays that way?

We were pulling in the brush with our pickup, and all the sudden the oil gauge pegged, we quickly shut it off and checked our oil, it was good we let it cool and when we started it it pegged again and that is where it stays?

check to see if the wire on oil sensor is hitting block or is grounded. otherwise it may be a bad dash
