Oil filter can I use a different number filter than recommended?

If my car needs a 7317 Fram oil filter and I accidentally bought a 6607. It fits but is half as long. Will it work?

Hi Jessica,

If it fits and isn't leaking, it should be okay. However, the larger filter is used to help cool the engine oil a little more and provide more filtration.
