I took the mountings off and got to the thermostat, when I tried to take the flange out it got stuck between the engine and the flange, i'm afraid I will break it if I keep pulling on it. am I doing it wrong?

Yeah I meant to say oil pan and no, I tried it without putting a jack under it. I will go home and do so and we'll see how it goes.

It is easier if you remove the power steering bracket out of the way.
