Oil consumption

This car uses about four quarts per week. I can see no signs of leaking on garage floor or engine. There is is no smoke and car runs flawlessly. Where is my oil going? A mechanic once told me I had a rear main leak, but I cannot see any oil. So how would he know?

Good evening.

He would have to physically inspect the engine for leaks.

It could be burning it and not smoke from the catalytic converter absorbing the oil.

Take it somewhere and have them check the engine underneath for any leaks.
