i use conventional oil in my car and do oil changes every 3,000 miles. My car does not burn oil. However, conventional oil is starting to be hard to find. can I switch to synthetic blend is there a risk that the car will start to leak oil aka main seal and others and will start to burn oil.

Thank you

Switching from conventional oil to a synthetic blend oil should not cause any issues with oil leaks or oil consumption, as long as the oil meets the manufacturer's specifications for your vehicle. Here is the engine oil weight recommended:

Fluid Types

New standard for engine oil, GF-4. See TSB EG018-06 032906 for additional information.

Engine Oil Type

GRADE .................... API grade SL Energy-Conserving or ILSAC multigrade engine oil

VISCOSITY .................... SAE 5W-30

Capacities

*Engine Oil Capacity (drain and refill) .................... L (qt., Imp. qt.)

With filter: .................... 4.2 (4.4, 3.7)

Without filter: .................... 4.0 (4.2, 3.5)
