Oil keeps seemingly disappearing out of the engine

I replaced the oil about 3,000 miles ago and I just had to completely refill it. It was completely empty. A couple months ago I had the thermostats replaced because the engine kept overheating while idling.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Oil consumption is most often the result of a leak. Other things such as burning in the combustion chamber can also do it.

Here is a link that helps locate and check for leaks. It shows the most common places leaks occur.

If the engine oil is burning in the engine, most times you will see blue smoke from the exhaust. So, pay attention to that.

See if you can find leaks or if you notice smoke, and let me know what you find.
