Hello, Between our last oil change and now, our Odometer has stopped spinning. The irony is that we are now wanting to sell this wonderful old 4Runner because we had our first baby and need a car that is easier to load a car seat in. How do I get the Odometer to start working again? Thank you! You always have provided great advice.

Congratulations on your new baby :) Can I ask if the speedometer is still working? If not, it sounds like the VSS sensor has gone out. Here is the location of the sensor so you can inspect the electrical connector and then replace the sensor. If the speedometer is still working, then the instrument cluster will need to be replaced. Check out the images below for instructions. You can get a rebuilt cluster by searching Google. Let me know what happens. Enjoy your new family!

Hi Ken,

Thanks so much.

The speedometer is definitely working. So, you're staying it's the instrument cluster. If I buy this and install it, will the miles be the same? We are hoping to sell the truck and I want to do it right.

Thanks again

Yep good call, if you use a rebuilder they can make the miles close to correct, if a used cluster is installed you will need to take note of the mileage difference and then inform the new owner.
