Occasionally when stopped at a light/sign, I see exhaust smoke from under the hood and into the passenger compartment. It smells similar to a weak diesel exhaust smell, but this is a gasoline engine.

Hi,

One of the most common issues with the 5.4L is a cracked or leaking exhaust manifold. By chance, do you notice a leak or even a ticking sound when you rev the engine?

Also, have you opened the hood to see if you can tell where the smoke is coming from? It could also be an oil leak you smell.

Take a look through this link and then check on your vehicle for any evidence of oil leaks.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe
