OBDII connection problem

Having trouble getting my cars computer to connect to any OBDII scanners. Took it to get smoged and they could not connect at all and now the check engine light is on.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros. Com.

The first thing I need you to check are fuses. On the left side of the dash is a fuse box. Locate fuse 7 and fuse 12. Confirm they are good. If they test good, you need to locate the ground for the data link connector. It will be two brown wires joined and then grounded to the left of the steering column. Confirm the ground is good and all wiring is in good condition.

I have attached a picture of the wiring schematic for the data link connector. Take a look at it. You will see the two fuses I referred to as well as the ground.
