I have a AutoMeter Dashlink 2 Bluetooth Scanner that works on my Lincoln Town Car but will not connect to my truck listed above. I've checked all fuses and they are good. I'm using an iPhone 6plus with Dashlink app as interface. Bluetooth is on and it connects to dongle but when I use the app's connect button it fails to connect.
I hope this makes some sense.

This is the wiring for the DLC, what I would probably do is visit a store that does free scans and have them try to connect. If they can connect but you still cannot then it's possible your scan tool doesn't like the Toyota protocol.

AutoZone and O'Reilly's scanners work flawlessly. I don't know what protocol Toyota likes or does not like. I checked the DLC and it has four pins located in positions 4, 5, 7 and 16. Also, the email function from within the Dashlink app is greyed out so when I run the debugging sequence to create a tech log, I cannot send it to tech support. This is not good. Nothing but problems.

Unfortunately, it sounds like it doesn't like Toyota for some reason. It's actually common even with the high-end tools, you run across a particular make and model that scanner A doesn't connect to, but scanner B handles just fine. Or a function that works on one tool but not another. It's why I tell people buying a scan tool that there is no "best scan tool" because there are blind spots in all of them, even happens with OEM tools. Service@autometer. Com is their support email.

I've been in touch with tech at autometer and although he/she has tried valiantly they have not been able to help.

It's an odd issue in the tools hardware or software that blocks access. For instance, one of my Launch tools doesn't connect with Ford F-250 trucks very well but another one that is running the same software will connect with no problem. Sounds like they have a similar issue. Perhaps they will issue an update to fix it.
