I had to swap out the engine on my car listed above. I made the mistake and picked up a Obd2 engine. It didn’t have a dizzy and I didn’t really check the connections before. The throttle body is different (no cruise) and my old one doesn’t let me tighten bolts on new manifold. So I’m modifying the new one to add cruise and a top hose.

I’ve looked at things around the internet but somethings were unclear. I have the obd1 harness, dizzy and fuel rails. Is that all I need? I also read somewhere about having to modify the oil pump? This seems like a whole lot more work for basically the same motor.

Hello,

I am unclear on what a dizzy is, but you will definitely have to have the throttle body tightened down to the intake manifold so that it is an air tight connection or your vehicle will not run or run exceptionally badly with a high idle. Also you will risk having your air:fuel ratio go very lean which could, in turn, cause catastrophic engine failure. The oil pump shouldn't matter with an engine switch, it's an internal part of the engine and should go with the motor when it's swapped. Are you taking two bad engine's and making a good one out of both of them?

Thanks,
Alex

Dizzy- distributor. Yes I know I must tighten the throttle body, things can be very bad for the car. Just have to modify the new one to put the cruise control and top vaccum hose. No not combining engines, just didn’t look good at what I was getting before.

I read somewhere that the crank position sensor on a obd1 accord is in the distributor but on a obd2 it’s in the oil pump. Sorry for not explaining better.
