So a couple weeks ago my truck backfired and died. I got it started last week by changing the rotor. Then it died again. I haven’t been able to get it started again. The coil, dristibutor, and battery are new. I haven’t found any burnt wires. My only options are to try and fix it or scrap it. Does anyone know what it could be?

Hi and thanks for using 2carpros.com

Honestly, there are only a few things that will cause a crank / no start. First, take a look through this link:

Now, what I want you to do is this. See if the engine will start using starting fluid. If it does, then the problem is fuel related. If it doesn't it is ignition spark related.

Do this and let me know what you find so I can further help you diagnose the problem.

Take care,
Joe
