Hi. My car listed above Vivo 1.4 petrol is not starting. The engine turns but not firing up. This comes after the car was driving but would randomly switch off while i'm driving. The car would start and idle for a minute or so but then just shuts off. It got worse over time and was taken for a diagnostics test and got crankshaft sensor and fuel pump relay fault message. (R4000) later the car was doing the exact same thing. The new crank sensor was said to be faulty and another was bought but guess what, same problem. The men at the workshop are now pulling out their own hair as the can't figure out what the problem is and have according to them checked everything. Is there anyone out there that can advise me what to do and where to look? My car has been standing for nearly two months now.

Hello,

The first thing I would do it check the wiring between the sensor and the PCM. Here is a guide to helps with the wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works:

If everything checks out I would replace the PCM with a used/rebuilt unit here is the location of the PCM. The diagrams are for a 2.0 liter but are the same/similar.

This guide may help as well:

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.
