I was going to college one morning and without warning it just shut off. Had to tow it home. I have changed everything in the ignition and had to change the timing chain and gears. I put it all back together and it will crank but will not start.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Have you checked to make sure you are getting both spark and fuel to the engine? Was the timing chain replaced due to it not starting or was it replaced prior to the problem?

As far as the engine running, you need four things, correct timing, spark to the plugs, proper fuel pressure, and compression. One of those thing is causing the issue.

With that, do me a favor. See if it starts for a couple seconds using starting fluid. If it does and then stalls again, it is a fuel related issue. If it still fails to start, then it's one of the other three things. I would start by testing for spark at this point.

Here are a few links you may find helpful. Take a look through them and see if any of them are helpful.

Also, let me know if the crankshaft position sensor was already replaced. If you have a live data scanner, check to see if there is an RPM signal when cranking the engine.

I will watch for your reply.

Take care,
Joe
