Car won’t start Doesn’t turn over and brake pedal is firm, and I am unable to shift it into neutral or drive from park. Cannot turn over he does not go far enough to do that the break seems to be fully pressured back when I try to press it so I can’t switch out of here and there may be something going on that’s related to that. so, I’m thinking maybe electrical issue that in other words there needs to be enough charge on the battery to allow the brake pedal to go down or to be assisted by the automatic by the by the steering system and you know perhaps I just need to store a new battery or something on those lines but I don’t really know for sure.

Hi,

The brake pedal will become hard to press if you press them without the engine running. Power assist is provided via engine vacuum so without it running, that isn't available.

Does anything electrical work? Based on your description, it sounds like the battery may simply be dead.

Try this simple battery load test. It doesn't require any tools. Follow the directions in this link and let me know the results.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,
