Not shifting right

Car not shifting correct and has lost power wont go higher then 55 mph.

At 55, is the engine revving really high? Have you checked the transmission fluid to confirm it is clean and full? Also, a major power loss can be cause by an engine issue and not the transmission. When I hear of a major power loss, my first suspect is a catalytic converter being plugged.

Also, if the check engine light is on, you need to have the computer scanned to identify diagnostic trouble codes. Here is a quick video showing how it is done:

I realize most people don't own a scanner, but most parts stores will do it for free or lend/rent you a scanner.
