Hi Gentlemen,

I have a 1977 Ford E-150 van, RWD, 351w. I have a quick question. The A/C compressor has been broken for years, what would I need to do to remove the A/C compressor and replace it at a later date. I have a new one, and other new parts to replace the other failed parts. I need to know if I have to plug the lines or remove them.

Thank you,
Mark

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.

The hoses should be plugged to prevent contamination. However, I would replace them. Based on age, miles, and being disconnected, I would replace them. If you do not, the system will need vacuumed down regardless, so it should remove any contaminates.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe

Mark:

First, you are very welcome. I just wanted to suggest something. When you put things together, I would replace the orifice. Chances are it is bad at this point.

Take care and feel free to come back any time.
