Was there other variant engines available in my car other than the Northstar?

No the Northstar was the only option available for your car.

In the Haynes Service Manuel for the 2004 Cadillac Deville, the the diagrams do not refer to any 32 valve Northstar engines. Nor does our vehicle itself specify on the car, like most Cadillac's do, that it is a Northstar. We believe that the valves maybe bent or heads cracked because the highest compression we got testing was 176 and they should be at least 180.

Okay, it most likely is just listed as the 4.6 motor which is a Northstar engine.
176 for compression is great number. 180 was when it was new. The car is fifteen years old and there is some wear in the motor so a reading of compression a little under spec is good.
That is not an issue at this point. Is there some other issue that concerns you?
