Just changed the water pump and thermostat and temperature goes 215 Fahrenheit and fans don't kick in unless I turn on the A/C and goes down to 204.8, 206.6, 208.8, 210,212,215 and have to turn on A/C for fans. Is that normal?

Hi,

No, that isn't working properly. The fan should turn on with the A/C, but with the A/C off, it should also turn on when a specific predetermined temperature is reached.

If you look at pic 1 below, I indicated the ECT location. Unplug it and see if the fan turns on.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

They do turn on, both, high. I'm thinking it could be a wiring problem. Someone spliced the wires to have them running full time. I put it back together based on color. The only ones that might be wrong are two black wires. That's my only guess as per why the low fan won't come on. If don't turn on the a/c, the fans kick in until temperature is at 226 degrees. Gauge is in the middle but seems kind of high to me.

Hi,

If it is turning on at 226, that sounds normal. Take a look at the attachment below. It indicates when the fan is signaled on and off based on temperature and A/C.

Let me know.

Joe
