Noisy Starter Motor

I just test drove the vehicle listed above and I found the starter motor to be noisy on engine turn over. is this normal?

No there should be no abnormal noise, first thing to do is drop out the starter and make sure that the Bendix is okay, that is the drive gear that engages the drive plate teeth, look for worn teeth on the drive plate as well, start here. If this looks okay get the starter over hauled or replaced.
