The drive belt was replaced yesterday morning, the third replacement in the past two years. The belt continues to squeak, albeit less intense and quieter. It makes noise when the car is first started up.

Two possibilities come to mind. (1) Sometimes the pulleys will get a little greasy and dirty, causing a squeak sound. If it is safely doable, while the engine is idling, take a small wire brush and let lightly touch the top of the belt for a few seconds, and then the bottom. This helps to get the grease off of the belt and pulleys. Or you could take the belt off and spray a liberal amount of engine degreaser on the pulleys, and then let them dry off for a few hours. (2) Perhaps you have an issue with an idler pulley. Could be a bad bearing in it making that sound.

I would bet on number one. I occasionally have to do it with my car and I just use an old toothbrush. Works like a charm.
