Hi, my car makes a screeching noise just for a second only in the morning when I start it (and not all the time). I replaced the driving belt a month ago. Is it something that needs to be checked?

Hi,

Since it happens on startup, I suspect the accessory drive belt is loose. The alternator has a heavy load at first startup, so if the belt is slightly loose, it certainly can make the noise.

I'm not sure which engine you have, but if I recall, both have a mechanical belt tensioner at the alternator bracket. First, see if the belt is loose. If it is, try tightening the belt at the adjustor on the alt bracket. See pic 1 below for directions.

Let me know if this takes care of the issue. If you feel it isn't related to the belt, record it and upload it so I can hear it.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

Joe

See pic below. Note: The directions are the installation directions and not removal. Therefore, both bolts A and B must be loosened prior to adjustment.
