Hi,

I have the vehicle listed above CC, that I haven't had long and it's giving me some grief! It might be a silly question, but the car is making a strange whirring/grinding noise from the rear left when in low gear - both accelerating and braking.

I've also noticed there is dirt on the rear left wheel and that hub cap etc only?

It also takes a little encouragement to get out of first like it's a little stuck. I dolt know a lot about cars so any help would be great so I can budget for repairs and know how serious it is.

If you can get a picture of this dirt and wheel, then we can confirm this, but this sounds like brake dust. If that is the case and it is grinding, then more than likely that caliper is stuck keep the brake applied.

This means we are going to have to replace the pads and more than likely the caliper on that wheel as well.

Here are a couple of guides that will help with this info:

Unfortunately, we don't have a manual on your vehicle as it is not offered here in the USA, but these guides should help in getting this process completed.

However, if you can get a picture of this wheel as it sits, and we can help confirm this is brake dust prior to moving forward.

Let me know what you find, and we can go from there.

Thanks

Sorry if this is too blurry. I took it on my way out and thought it was okay. Will take another, but thanks so much for the advice so far!

It is blurry but I think it is good enough to see the brake dust all over it.

So, if this is grinding, we need to get the wheel off and check ASAP. It is most likely metal to metal on the brake pads due to the caliper being locked up, but it could also be a wheel bearing.

Either way it is something that we need to get addressed quicker than not.

Let's pull the wheel off and see what the pads look like or have it checked out.

Thanks
