This has the original clutch which is worn but still works okay. No trouble selecting any gear.

Recently started getting a rumbling noise when gears are engaged. The garage said it is the dual mass flywheel and want £1800 to repair. Other than this noise the CRV is perfect and has had regular servicing etc.

Question 1, I can put up with the rumbling but is it okay to keep driving or will something give?

Question 2, can the dual mass flywheel be replaced by a single mass flywheel?

You can keep driving with the rumbling should not hurt anything. It can not be replaced with a non dual mass unit. Here is a video of the job being done on a similar car which show the process:

Please run down this guide and report back.
