A few days ago, I noticed a noise coming from my SUV during startup and while driving. Any ideas as to what this could be?

Hi,

It sounds like a belt making noise. Try this. Take a small cup of water and slowly pour it on the belt while it is making noise. Water will fling so protect your eyes and wear old clothes.

Pay attention to see if the sound changes when the belt gets slightly wet.

Let me know.

Hi,

That tells me that either the belt is worn and needs to be replaced, or the belt tensioner is weak.

See if the belt feels tight. If it does, replace the belt. I attached the directions below specific to this vehicle to replace the belt. Note: There are eight and seven pulley designs. I provided the seven-pulley design which is more common. If you do have the 8-pulley design, let me know.

Here is a link that explains in general how one is replaced. I feel it is easier to follow.

Let me know what you find. Note: If the belt does not feel tight enough, the tensioner is not adjustable and will need to be replaced. Let me know and I'll help get you through that process.

Take care and Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi,

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to know the problem is resolved. Funny how a few drops of water in the right place can help solve problems. LOL

You take care of yourself and feel free to come back anytime in the future.
