No start and sputtering on acceleration?

Began with no power when accelerating and had to crank several times to start, then would only start with starting fluid but otherwise ran okay, I replaced the fuel pump because the fuel pressure was low and now it will only start with starting fluid, will idle okay once started, but if I push the gas pedal even lightly it starts completely sputtering then dies.
