Engine cranks but does not start?

So, I pick this car up for cheap, but it will not start, you can turn it over but will not start. I have checked the relays, fuse, fuel pump, and eco, and all is good. When you jump it off it acts like it wants to start but does not. Also, the gas gauge reads full until you try starting it then it goes to empty. Please help.

It sounds like it might be out of gas. Can you tell me if it tries to start if you use starting fluid?
