I have spark and fuel, but the car will not start. It turns over good and strong but will not start.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

If you have spark and fuel, it should run. Have you checked for diagnostic trouble codes?

Here is a link that shows how to retrieve the codes:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/buick-cadillac-chevy-gmc-oldsmobile-pontiac-gm-1983-1995-obd1-code-definitions-and-retrieval-method

Take a look through this link. It discusses the most common causes of a crank no start condition.

If that doesn't help, tell me if this started all at once. Also, when the starter is engaged, does the engine spin faster than normal or sound differently than it did prior to the problem?

Let me know.

Joe

I did valve cover gaskets and intake gasket and cleaned all the carbon build up from around the rods and everything. Put it back together have new cap and button, new wires, new plugs. And I thought the same that if I have fire and fuel it should run but nothing. That is why I am reaching out for help.

Have you actually checked for spark at the plugs? Also, are you sure there isn't a major vacuum leak at the intake?

Does it ever fire? If you use starting fluid, does it make a difference?
