My speedometer been acting a little flaky lately it's not the digital one it's the old analog version. Anyway, it quit working the other day and when that happened it also stopped shifting at the same time. It goes into first gear and reverse and that's it and I am it's got to be a sensor but being it's an analog speed o I guess I'm not so sure any idea?

Yep, it sounds like the vehicle speed sensor buffer has gone bad. This will affect both the speedometer and the transmission shifting problems. Here is the location of the part, you might want to search ebay for it, we have had good luck getting older parts from there. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
