I have the car listed above ZX2. There is no pressure/resistance of any kind when pushing the clutch pedal in and the pedal stays down on the floor once pushed, does not come back up unless I pull it up. Cannot change gears either. Also, nothing moves in the engine compartment or on the transmission when using the pedal. Fluid is full and there are no visible leaks that I can see. What should I look for before resorting to removing the transmission and checking the pressure & clutch plates, throw-out fork, etc. Could it be the master and slave cylinders and how do I check them? I have some experience working on cars so a little guidance/pointer would be very helpful. Let me know if you need more info. Any diagrams would be good too if there are any available. Thanks for your time.

Hi,

If the fluid in the clutch reservoir hasn't gone down, my first suspect is the clutch master cylinder. In most cases, a faulty slave cylinder will leak.

If there is no resistance, disconnect the connector at the slave cylinder and see if you can hold the fluid while someone presses the clutch pedal.

If the Master Cylinder is the issue, I attached the directions below for replacement. Take a look through them and let me know if you have questions. Also, the last few pics are the procedures for bleeding.

Take care,

Joe
