My truck started to make a ticking sound and the oil pressure dropped and the truck shut off and wont start again. The dipstick shows no oil but I had just put two quarts in within the hour. I couldn't get it to start so my dad had to come and tow me home. What can I do to see what really happened and if the motor is in need of replacement?

Good morning,
Does the engine turn over when you crank it?
Do you see any signs of leaking?

It doesn’t turn over almost like the battery is dead and no signs of leaking.

Okay, it may be locked up.
You should try to turn the engine by hand to be sure the engine turns.

Either way. It does not matter. Just make sure the engine can turn.
