Starter grinds will not start. changed flywheel, starter, battery and clutch still grinds. The Bendix on starter is not meshing with the flywheel. Tried everything that I can think of, was suggested that I get a Ford starter with a longer nose what do you think?

You should check the pinion gear clearance and here is the procedure showing how.
the Motorcraft starter I read as being for the 87-88 4.2 engine.
