I was driving about 110 and stopped and started revving my car listed above SE model, and it lost half of its power to the engine. It was hitting 8 RPMs and it started hitting 2 and a half RPMs and sounds like it’s red lining there. The engine sounds very weak or like something was clogged up. I can’t stomp on the gas otherwise it sounds like it redlines but I can get it up to 60 MPH but slowly. I hooked a reader up to it and it threw a 02 sensor code and a mass airflow sensor code, and a EGR vacuum solenoid code. So, I cleared the codes and cleared the check engine light. After I turned the car off it cranked but didn’t start, it had fast clicking sounds in the engine bay, there was a at light that was a solid color then started flashing 16 times on the dash and the fuel pump wouldn’t kick on. So, I replaced the fuel pump and the relay for it, the fuel pump still doesn’t kick on. I left it over night and tried turning it on and it sounded like a vacuum cleaner or a loud whining type noise. I tried jumping it and took out the inhibit relay and put it back in and then the car wouldn’t turn over at all, only a click sound by the dash inside the car was heard. Every mechanic I’ve called doesn’t know what the issue could be, I replaced the alternator and spark plugs not that long ago, my transmission fluid was kind of a brown color but didn’t smell burnt and I speed in my car a lot, sometimes I would have to try starting to car 3 times and on the 3rd time it would start before I had these problems, it takes it a second or two to start going fast when I would stomp on the gas.

Hi,

Is the starter engaging and turning the engine? If not, have you checked the battery itself? If it gets too weak, these types of things can happen. Also, when you mentioned it sounded like a vacuum cleaner, do you mean the starter was spinning really fast but not engaging with the engine, or was it turning the engine really fast? If you were redlining it, it could have jumped timing.

Let me know. Also, try this really simple load test for the battery.

I will watch for your reply.

Take care,
