The timing chain broke and destroyed the motor. I installed a re-manufactured engine. Now I have a no crank no start issue. I have power ie, lights on dash but turn to start and nothing no engaging of the starter. All worked before. I did notice that that ABS light is on traction control light is on and numerous other things are coming up on the display. Also the fuel gauge reads completely empty and I know that’s not right either. I checked fuses and relays and all are good. Can someone point me in the right direction? Oh one more thing I plugged in my hand held code reader and it could not communicate with the car.

Good morning,

Can you test the battery voltage? It needs to be 12.4 to 12.6 volts.

The key may have forgot the password for the security system. I will attach the procedure for you to reset.

Key with Integrated Transmitter Programming

Keys can be programming in various ways using the procedures outlined below. Using the Replacing Keys procedures will first erase all the known keys from the vehicle. Any existing keys and any new keys will then be programmed. This procedure should be used any time a key is required to be unlearned or erased from a vehicle. If a new key is being learned to a vehicle to replace a damaged, inoperative, or stolen key, the Replacing Keys procedure must be used. This ensures that the old key cannot be used to access or start the vehicle after programming.

The Adding Keys procedure does not erase any keys prior to programming. The procedure will simply program the key into the next available slot. The Adding Keys procedure should only be used when adding an additional key to the vehicle. The Adding Keys procedure should never be used to program a key to a vehicle that is having a key replaced, regardless of the cause for the replacement.

No communication? can you please try the scanner on another car to see if it works? , if so lets check the system fuses. here is a guide and the fuse panel locations make sure the key is on. Also when you turn the key to the on position without cranking the engine over can you hear the fuel pump run in the tank for 5 seconds?

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Yes, I have checked the scanner on my other car and it works fine. I do not hear the fuel pump run when ignition is on. I have checked every fuse also.

The fuel pump will not come on if the key does not give the password.

The spark and fuel will be disabled and not allow that operation.

I do have a question about the re-learn. The fob that holds the key the unlock and lock buttons work along with the panic button. Do I still need to do a re-learn?

That is for the fob.

The key relearn is a 10 minute reset.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-reset-a-security-system

Turn the key to on and turn to start. then release back to the on position. Let it sit for 10 minutes. The security or theft light should go out.

Do this 3 times. After the third time, the key should have learned the password.

I got the car to crank by jumping the starter solenoid with the 30 and 87 pin. I have checked all fuses. I got a hold of another scanner but still can’t communicate with the car. Any other suggestions?

You just bypassed the relay. The ECM is preventing it from starting due to the communication issue.
