What you described is quite common today on all car brands. Starting at the battery, follow the smaller positive wire to the under-hood fuse box. Clean and / or tighten that nut at the fuse box.
I found there are well over a hundred variations depending on whether this car was sold in Mexico, the U.S, Canada, or somewhere else, and all kinds of options. I tried to pick one that should be representative to show you where to look. In this drawing, I added the red arrow pointing to what looks like will be one of two studs. Tighten those nuts, then let me know if that solves the problem or if we need to look further.
