No crank

I was driving the other night and the car started to overheat so i stopped I got my scan tool out to see what was going on with it (at this point). i tried to restart my car after cool down that is when i found out that the battery was dead. so i had a friend come out and give me a boost. We hooked up jumper cables the car would would not start so i went to Walmart got another battery put it on and the car still wouldn't turn over. i tested the starter i have got no power on my signal wire (i also checked the fuel pump and no power there either) i have checked fuses and relays to note just had new timing chains put on/water pump.
