Toyota dealership was not able to communicate with the ECM to get diagnostics. Check engine light comes on and goes off, but no reading.

Possible problems?

Is this red flag not to buy the car?

Good evening.

A dealership should be able to figure out why it cannot communicate as they are factory trained.
If they cannot figure it out, then yes, walk away and keep looking for a car that is in better condition.
