Would a stopped up heater core restrict circulation in radiator to almost none?

THE HEATER CORE CIRCULATES FROM AND BACK TO THE ENGINE (JUST LIKE THE RADIATOR DOES)

ARE BOTH HEATER HOSES GETTING HOT WHERE THEY ENTER THE FIREWALL?

THE RADIATOR AND HEATER CORE ARE NOT IN A SERIES

WHEN THE THERMOSTAT IS CLOSED, BASICALLY THE RADIATOR JUST SITS THERE WITH COOLANT SITTING STILL IN IT, THE HEATER CORE IS CIRCULATING THE WHOLE TIME.

THE WATER PUMP IS JUST SPINNING PUMPING HEATER CORE AND WATER WITHIN THE ENGINE. IT CANNOT "PICK-UP" THE RADIATOR WATER BECAUSE NONE IS BEING RELEASED (THERMOSTAT IS CLOSED) KINDA LIKE SUCKING ON A STRAW, WITH YOUR FINGER OVER THE OTHER END.

WHEN THE THERMOSTAT OPENS, WHEN THE WATER INSIDE THE ENGINE GETS HOTTER THAN THE THERMOSTAT TEMPERATURE RATING (LET'S SAY A 195 DEGREES STAT)

THAT 195+ DEGREE WATER IS THEN COOLED BY THE RADIATOR. IN DUMMY TERMS, LET'S SAY THE THERMOSTAT IS NOW ALLOWING 10 CUPS OF WATER INTO THE RADIATOR.

WELL, 10 CUPS COMES OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR TO REPLENISH WHAT JUST CAME INTO THE TOP OF THE RADIATOR. NOW THAT THE STAT OPENED, THE WATER PUMP CAN SUCK IT OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR. YOU ARE NOW EASING YOUR FINGER OFF OF THE STRAW'S END, "SUCTION" CAN NOW HAPPEN.

"HOW MUCH" WATER MOVES IS DETERMINED ON HOW FAST THE WATER GETS HOT IN THE ENGINE, THE THERMOSTAT MAY STAY "CRACKED OPEN" OR IT MIGHT GET "WIDE OPEN" IT VARIES ALL OF THE TIME

SORTA A QUICKIE EXPLANATION. THIS IS ALSO WHEN THINGS ARE WORKING RIGHT.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE OVERHEATING?

MAYBE WE CAN FIND THE PROBLEM? (NOT THE CORE)

ENGINE SIZE?

SPILL YOUR GUTS, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE SO FAR?

WHAT KINDA PUNISHMENT DID IT GET (HOW BAD DID IT OVERHEAT/ HOW LONG DID IT GET DRIVEN HOT/ NO NEED TO BE BASHFUL/ EMBARRASSED, I DON'T KNOW YOU, YOU DON'T KNOW ME! BESIDES, YOU CAN BLAME EMBARRASSING FACTS ON A THIRD PARTY!

ACCURATE INFO MAY BE HELPFUL! (MY SISTER SAID THAT SHE DROVE HER HUSBAND'S TRUCK MAYBE 5 MINUTES OVERHEATED, MY 16 NIECE WITH HER SAID IT WAS OVERHEATING BETWEEN TWO TOWNS THAT ARE 15 MILES APART. SURELY THE TRUCK CANNOT GO THAT FAST!)

YOUR TURN
